The AstroAI division of the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics was independently attending SXSW and wasn’t going to be having a booth or participating in any specific events. That being said, they did want to take the opportunity to engage the public.

After discussing how the team planned to engage the public, the best solution was to design t-shirts. Each t-shirt asked a question that would grab the public’s interest, prompting them to scan the QR code that brought them to tailor-made pages on the AstroAI website with the answers or to just simply approach them to begin a conversation on the topic. This direction allowed for both passive and active interaction.

A positive outcome from the project, aside from lots of public engagement, was securing a new donor for the AstroAI project.
